Creating a Standardized Corpus of Multimodal Interactions for Enculturating Conversational Interfaces
نویسندگان
چکیده
To enculturate conversational interfaces it is indespensable to gain insights in culture specific differences of interaction patterns. Information found in the literature is often very general or more of an anecdotal character. In this paper we present a corpus of culture specific interaction patterns that was collected under standardized conditions in Germany and Japan and thus presents a rich source of data for developing interfaces that are tailored to specific cultures.

Creating Standardized Video Recordings of Multimodal Interactions across Cultures
Trying to adapt the behavior of an interactive system to the cultural background of the user requires information on how relevant behaviors differ as a function of the user’s cultural background. To gain such insights in the interrelation of culture and behavior patterns, the information from the literature is often too anecdotal to serve as the basis for modeling a system’s behavior, making it...

متن کاملThe CUBE-G approach – Coaching culture-specific nonverbal behavior by virtual agents
Embodied conversational agents have been proven to be powerful tools for engaging users in interactions and thus are suitable for training scenarios that rely on a role-playing metaphor. In the CUBE-G project we propose an approach for culture-adaptive behavior generation of such agents, which can be employed in edutainment applications for increasing cultural awareness and for learning some of...
متن کاملCreation of Multimodal Corpus for Modeling Turn Management in Multi-party Conversations
Spoken interactions are known for accurate timing and alignment between interlocutors: turn-taking and topic flow are managed in a manner that provides conversational fluency and smooth progress of the task. When considering applications like robot companions which interact with the user in real time, turn-taking and topic flow are also important. This paper describes creation of multi-modal co...
متن کاملSpeech, gaze and gesturing: multimodal conversational interaction with Nao robot
The paper presents a multimodal conversational interaction system for the Nao humanoid robot. The system was developed at the 8th International Summer Workshop on Multimodal Interfaces, Metz, 2012. We implemented WikiTalk, an existing spoken dialogue system for open-domain conversations, on Nao. This greatly extended the robot’s interaction capabilities by enabling Nao to talk about an unlimite...
